Refined Country Dining Room

When designer Marlene Stauffer met with Layla, the homeowner, they agreed that doing away with the formal, matchy-matchy dining room look would be the first step in creating the more eclectic, informal style Layla wanted.

For a more timeless, collected feel, Marlene started with a beautiful, light palette to balance the dark walls, drawing inspiration from a beautiful area rug from The Rug Bazaar at INTERIORS HOME. A rustic table and side chairs, 2 upholstered arm chairs and a cottage-style bench came together to create seating for six without the formal feel. The sideboard was replaced with a charming, functional cabinet and the old chandelier replaced with an understated but elegant crystal chandelier. The result is a refined but charming look, and most importantly inviting–exactly what Layla had hoped for.
